Maria Sharapova in Australian Open Final!


She did it again!

Maria Sharapova has won the semi final of Australian Open and entered the finals for second consecutive year.

Maria Sharapova strom past injury-hampered Jelena Jankovic in a one-sided semi-final on Rod Laver Arena.

Maria Sharapova dropped only four games in 78 minutes to finish off the 3rd seed 6-3, 6-1.

The No.5 seed Maria Sharapova will play either Daniel Hantuchova or Ana Ivanovic in the final.

[Right now Daniea Hantuchova has won the first set 6-0 and serving with 2-0 lead in the second set.]

Mammoth task ahed for Indians

Australia a target of 499, after they declared 351-7 in its second innings on the third day of the first test in Melbourne.

At stumps India were 6 no loss after surviving eight overs. India need to score 493 with 10 wickets at hand and Australia need to pack the tourists with in two days to wind the match in their favor.

So far England's score of 332 during 1928-1929 Ashes series is the highest fourth innings at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Michael Clarke (73), Phil Jaques (51) and Brad Hogg (34) were the top scorers for Australia.

Among the Indian bowlers, Harbhajan Singh took three for 101 while Anil Kumble was two for 102.

Indian Batsmen Surrendered Meekly.



On day 2 of the Melbourne test, Indian star-studded batting line-up surrendered the advantage of bowling Australians out for 343 in their first outing.
The Indians were managed to get only 196 and Australians scored 32 without loss and thus gain a lead of 179 over the tourists.

Dravid opened for Indians and managed to score only 5 runs from 66 balls. Sachin Tendulkar was the lone warier who struck a 62 built a partnership with Ganguly (43).

Earlier Australians added only six runs to their over night score of 337 f0r 9, before Zaheer Khan got Clark's wicket to end his tally 4 - 94.

Kumble bagged 5 Wikets - Australia 337-9


Indian captain Anil Kumble toppled the mighty Australians with a five wicket haul.

First day of the tour opener at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Australians were 337 for 9, with Matthew Hayden scored his 28th century - 19th in Australia and opener Phil Jaques 66.

Australians were 111/0, legspinner
Kumble made his breakthrough in the 34th over when he had Jaques stumped by wicketkeeper Mahendra Dhoni. Jaques' 108-ball knock featured eight boundaries.

Indian pace ace
Zaheer Khan sent century maker Hayden when he looked strong at 124, and finished his tally 22-1-83-2.

Earlier Australia
captain Ricky Ponting has won the toss and elected to bat.
